Watch the video above and hear Dr. Rubinstein discuss his unique approach to allergy effects caused by an allergic reaction and their diagnosis and treatment in Sarasota.

Food Allergy Effects in Sarasota:Food allergy effects occur for many people in Sarasota when the immune system mistakenly attacks a food protein. Ingestion of the offending food may trigger allergy effects like the sudden release of chemicals, including histamine, resulting in symptoms of an allergic reaction. The symptoms may be mild allergy effects (rashes, hives, itching, swelling, etc.) or severe allergy effects (trouble breathing, wheezing, loss of consciousness, etc.). An allergic reaction to food can cause some potentially fatal allergy effects. Sarasota Scientists estimate that approximately 12 million Americans suffer from food allergy effects. In some food allergies there may be an immediate allergic reaction or delayed in onset. It has been estimated that the majority of "food allergies" that occur in Sarasota are actually "hypersensitivity reactions" and more delayed in nature...i.e. the allergic reaction to the food ingested may take place in 2-3 days after ingestion of the offending food and the allergic reaction may be subtle or profound. Therefore, this kind of allergic reaction that is more subtle may not be as apparent to the Sarasota patient and may result in subtle allergy effects and significant symptoms such as fatigue, "brain fog", attention deficit, muscle and joint inflammation, aches and pains, inability to lose weight, chronic soft tissue swelling, eczema, psoriasis, etc. These "delayed" reactions found in our Sarasota patients are not like those of the more immediate and acute reactions that cause life-threatening allergy effects and anaphylactic reactions and may be more indolent and harder to identify. There are blood tests offered at our Sarasota office that can help to identify many of these "delayed food hypersensitivity reactions". This delayed food allergic reaction would be more difficult to diagnose in our Sarasota patients if it were not for the blood tests now available through the Allergy Clinic of Sarasota.
This information is about environmental allergy effects in Sarasota. It covers what the allergy effects are, what can cause those allergy effects, and how to deal with those allergy effects at our Sarasota office.
Environmental allergies are your body's response to substances you inhale at your Sarasota home, Sarasota school or Sarasota workplace. Those allergy effects can be caused in Sarasota by multiple allergens including; dust, animal dander, mold spores, mildew, feathers. Dust and mold allergies found in Sarasota are different from pollen allergies because they cause allergic reaction problems all year round--not just at certain seasons of the year in Sarasota.
Environmental allergy effects in Sarasota may cause an allergic reaction such as sneezing, runny or stuffy nose, itchy eyes and they may cause an allergic reaction like coughing and wheezing. Environmental allergy effects have been implicated in many other symptoms of our patients in Sarasota as well including, but not limited to, chronic fatigue, dizziness, headaches, skin itching, irritability and mood disturbances, inability to concentrate, sleep disturbances, learning impairment and many others. Untreated allergies can also lead to an allergic reaction like asthma and chronic bronchitis for many people in Sarasota.
The best way to control environmental allergy effects in Sarasota is to avoid the things that cause them. However, avoidance of environmental allergens is almost impossible for some people in Sarasota, especially as indoor allergens are often more pronounced than outdoor exposures. The first step is to find out what is producing the allergic reaction. For example, if your allergic reaction develops at night or when you wake up in the morning, the cause may be a feather pillow or dust mites in the bedding. The allergen may be a chemical in your bedroom or home environment or even the foods that you are exposed to while cooking or preparing meals.
Perhaps you notice an allergic reaction when you sit on a couch where your pet likes to sleep. If an allergic reaction occurs when you clean your Sarasota home, you may be allergic to house dust.
Traditionally, skin scratch tests have been used in Sarasota to determine if a certain item, when injected under the skin, causes a local allergic reaction. Then, in Sarasota Dr. Rubinstein infers that a positive skin allergic reaction means that the patient is allergic to the item introduced under the skin. There are many problems with this method of testing by Sarasota doctors though it is a popular testing method promoted by many allergists in Sarasota. Firstly, the items injected are not standardized (i.e. the dust mite extract purchased from one manufacturer may be antigenically different from one purchased from another manufacturer) so reactions can differ and may be confusing. Secondly, an allergic reaction under the skin may not be a true allergy. Furthermore, the allergy effects tests are uncomfortable & cross-over mixing of items injected in proximity under the skin can be further confusing. There are many Sarasota patients that we see with allergy effects at our Sarasota office who have undergone this testing and remember the negative experience.
Blood testing (in-vitro allergy testing) for specific allergies has revolutionized allergy testing in Sarasota & allergic reaction diagnosis and has superseded skin testing by other doctors in Sarasota for allergy testing.
Once you think you've found the cause of the allergic reaction, try to eliminate it from your environment. For example, use a Dacron or polyester pillow (but not foam rubber, because mold spores can grow in it). Use synthetic blankets. If cleaning your home in Sarasota sets you off, have someone else do it or at least wear a mask while you clean. If your allergic reaction dies down when you leave your Sarasota home, it may be caused by a pet. Vacuum carpets, furniture and other places where pets have been. Keep pets out of the bedroom. If the problem persists, you may have to find a new home in Sarasota for the pet or at least keep it outdoors to avoid those allergy effects.
If the allergic reaction cause is dust mites, dust mite avoidance measures are helpful. Dust mites are microscopic bug-like creatures that live in pillows, blankets, mattresses, stuffed animals, carpets and cloth-covered furniture. 95% of house dust allergies are caused by dust mites. You can help by covering your pillows, mattress, and box spring with a zippered, soft plastic cover that is labeled "allergy proof". Many of these alternative household products are available for purchase through the Allergy Clinic of Sarasota. Alternatively, you can buy the allergy proof covers at bedding shops in Sarasota and large department stores in Sarasota. A bare floor is best to combat allergy effects, with only a small area rug. If you must have carpet, choose a synthetic or cotton carpet with a tight weave and a very short pile. Change the central heating filter once a month to cut down on dust and other allergens in the air.
If you can't eliminate or avoid the cause of your allergic reaction, especially in your Sarasota home, you may be able to control the allergy effects by receiving de-sensitization therapy at our office in Sarasota using allergy shots or, better yet, allergy drops developed tailor-made to the individual to treat the Sarasota patient’s specific allergies...
